TEENERGY...A Spirit of Conservation
Protecting nature and the environment is the significant mission for the country, and young people are one of the key engine that will drive the movement forward. PTTEP Teenergy Project is initiated to cultivate an awareness of natural and environmental conservations in youths to safeguard our natural resources. The project provides them the opportunity to learn, practice and take hands–on actions to save the environment and natural resources.
“Teenergy” comes from Teen + Energy It’s an attempt to rally the power of the young generation to develop a spirit of conservation. The project started in 2014 as a youth camp for natural resource and environmental conservation, under the conservation concept of “3C: Cultivate–Create–Change” to cultivate consciousness of natural resource conversation and environmental responsibility among youths.
Cultivate in youths a consciousness of natural sources and the environment by creating learning opportunities outside the classroom.
Create knowledge for youths, reinforcing the spirit of conservation and promoting the youth network’s readiness to take actions that will benefit society.
Change the community and society for the better by brainstorming ideas and taking actions

PTTEP Teenergy is an initiative of PTTEP in cooperation with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, the Office of the Basic Education Commission and the Foundation for Khao Yai National Park Protection. The youths will have a chance to learn about natural and environmental conservations from the experts such as Sasin Chalermlarp, chairman of Sueb Nakasatien Foundation, Professor Emeritus Dr. Pilai Poonswad, Thailand’s leading hornbill researcher and Dr. Patrapol Maneeorn, a respected veterinarian better known as Dr. Lot.
To date, more than 800 secondary school students participated in youth camps. Over 50 social development and conservation projects were initiated and implemented in their communities by them. PTTEP is proud that the seeds of environmental conservation were sown and have thrived spectacularly.
In 2021, PTTEP aligned the PTTEP Teenergy project, in its seventh consecutive year, with the “Ocean for Life” strategy, leading to the launch of the Young Ocean for Life Innovation Challenge. This initiative provided young people with the opportunity to showcase their creativity through a marine resource conservation competition, with scholarships awarded to the winners.
The competition offers undergraduate students the opportunity to present innovative ideas for ocean conservation under the 3Ps framework which serves as the basis for the competition categories:
- Protect: Protecting the seas, with a focus on tackling pollution from waste and water.
- Preserve: Preserving and restoring marine and coastal resources.
- Provide: Providing opportunities to enhance the local economy
The selection of youth participants is conducted by a panel of distinguished experts from various organizations, including Assistant Professor Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, Deputy Dean for Special Affairs, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University; Dr. Petch Manopawitr, Conservation Scientist and Advisor to the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources; and Mr. Kunawut Boonyanopakun, Director of Localized Innovation Department, National Innovation Agency (Public Organization).
To date, we have organized the Young Ocean for Life Innovation Challenge for 3 consecutive years, receiving more than 260 innovative submissions.

PTTEP has carried out analysis on Social Return on Investment (SROI) of this project by measuring the social impact of the program with the financial quantification calculation (monetization). This method is intended to measure the value of the financial impact of the program that compares to the value of the impact to the cost of the program that has been invested into. It appears that the value of the SROI ratio is 1.93 : 1.
